Explanation: Price matching is a difficult topic as someone is going to pay for the difference in cost. The price paid for materials is about the same in each market so the customer has to determine if they are willing to sacrifice customer service and response to warranty related issues. Finding the balance of charging enough to stay in business and make a living and not gouging is at times difficult. There are so many factors in providing service and many times there are factors that may not be obvious to the customer but are important as a business owner. There are those in this business that are simply equipment installers in that they really have no interest in working on your used equipment when they can sell new equipment with a much higher profit margin. Check customer referrals and pay attention to those that may have had issues with equipment that had been installed by the company and were under warranty.

His or her price means nothing to me, because although no system is perfect, if I'm wrong about what I believe is the right cost to complete a certain job-then I would be taking food out of my families and those who work with us' families bellies. That isn't a good feeling. I'd rather loose a job then get stuck on a job that nobody wants to be at. That's the formula for bad quality workmanship, and honestly, a good chance that an accident could occur because of being distracted from the task at hand.

I would hope that a potential client would prefer to work with me regardless of the 10% difference but if 10% is that important to the potential client then I would have no problem reducing my fee that amount. Clients should strongly consider how they feel about the architects they interview; is there good chemistry? Does the architect seem genuinely engaged and interested in the client's project? Do they feel that the architect is an honest and trust-worthy professional who listens and provides evidence of understanding the clients' needs? If the architect doesn't appear to have all of these qualities but is 10% less than a competitor is it really worth the slightly reduced fee?
